Dante Asceta D’Elia

Dante Asceta D’Elia, 91, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at Conemaugh Medical Center, Johnstown.

He was born in Hillsville, Pa., son of the Rev. Pasquale and Angeline (Profeta) D’Elia. He married Debbie Hostler on Jan. 23, 1993.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years; a daughter, Georgette; a brother, David D’Elia of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dante retired as a mechanic from Conrail.

He served in the U.S. Army Military Police Unit in the South Pacific receiving one Bronze Star. He was an expert rifleman who also loved to paint and enjoyed classical music.

Dante attended classes at Penn State in art and French and excelled in both.

He loved life and had a great love for Jesus and always showed it. Dante was a loving and kind husband and father who will be sadly and forever missed by all who loved him. The world lost an angel today.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at Axe and Santella Family Chapel, 1534 Fourth St., Altoona, where services by Pastor Stephen Hicks will immediately follow the visitation. Interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home.
